Speech Therapy

Pediatric speech and language therapy is provided to assess and treat speech, language, feeding, and communication skills. Our experienced speech language pathologist may also see children with feeding difficulties.

At Milestones Therapy, speech pathologist Andrea Kirkman works with early intervention clients through adolescents. She has special training for addressing social skills, autism, apraxia and food aversion and sees children with a wide range of diagnoses from developmental delay, autism, apraxia and ADHD. Her methods are built upon family involvement and equipping children and adolescents to have ownership of their program for the purpose of achieving goals.

Any child or adolescent, with or without a diagnosis, who has trouble understanding or communicating may benefit from speech therapy services at Milestones Therapy of Chattanooga.

Occupational Therapy

Pediatric occupational therapy focuses on supporting what "occupies" a child's day, which primarily consists of engagement in play and self-help routines.

Occupational therapist Amy Thomas collaborates with families to embed practical strategies into their daily routines. This includes supporting a child's play, fine and visual motor skill development, as well as independence in age-appropriate, self-care activities. She provides intervention and/or consultative support in the clinic and in natural settings, such as the child's home, preschool, or in other challenging environments.

Children who may benefit from pediatric occupational therapy services at Milestones Therapy are those who have a history of developmental delay, cerebral palsy, autism, or any child who has difficulty fully participating in daily routines at home or in the community.

Physical Therapy

Pediatric physical therapy treats motor and functional limitations caused by neurological or orthopedic impairments in infants, children and adolescents.

During a child's session, pediatric physical therapist Laurie McGee teaches and assists in exercises and activities that can strengthen muscles and teach the child functional movements. We know that kids learn by playing, so the offices at Milestones Therapy are filled with items that make therapy fun and enjoyable.

Physical therapy may benefit young children who have been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, or any child who has delays in moving, walking or performing gross motor tasks.

Assistive Technology

Assistive technology can be valuable for people with or without disabilities--assisting in communicating, movement, teaching and learning.

Sarah Mak can provide assistive technology evaluations to help you find the best technology for your need, customized one-on-one training, group training, and more. Her services are ideal for family members, caregivers, teachers, or individuals.
